Bernard Tomic said goodbye to Abierto Los Cabos after losing against Dusan Lajovic in a thrilling three set match.
Ivo Karlovic secured his quarterfinal spot by defeating Mischa Zverev 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.
Meanwhile Spaniard Marcel Granollers had no trouble getting through 2nd round defeating Tobias Kamke. Granollers will face one of the top contenders for the title, Ivo Karlovic.
Guillermo Garcia Lopez couldn’t handle Almagro and lost his match in two sets, 7-6, 6-2.
Feliciano Lopez defeated American giant Reily Opelka in one hour and twenty-seven minutes.
34 year old Lopez didn’t disappoint and took the win with an outstanding serving game. Feliciano only had three opportunities to break Opelka’s serve and took one of them to win the first set. Second set was decided by a tiebreak.
Both Mexican doubles teams lost this Wednesday to leave the tournament without a local representative. Garza and Hank had a chance to serve for the first set against Carreño Busta and Andres Molteni but couldn’t deliver. Cerreño and Molteni won the match 7-5, 6-2.
In their next match, Carreño and Molteni will face Jonathan Marray and Adil Shamasdin.
Almagro and Demoliner head on to the next round after defeating Luis Patiño and Hans Hach 6-4, 6-4.
Mariusz Fyrstenberg and Mate Pavic didn’t have to play to get to the next round after Dolgopolov and Stakhovsky retired from the tournament.
Horacio Zeballos and Guillermo Garcia Lopez also had to retire from the tournament, Nicholas Monroe and Artem Sitak advance to the quarterfinals after only playing three games.
Israel’s Jonathan Erlich and briton Ken Skupski beat the swedishmen Johan Brunstrom and Andreas Siljestrom 2-6, 6-0 (13-11) to end the day.
